Weekend fun

So now that the weather is much better we have started getting out again and discovering new things. We did a ton of traveling last Spring and Summer and really missed it this winter but the winter here is cold and snowy. I can handle cold but DD2 can't and snow is just a nasty substance that no one should have to deal with(my opinion).

So we decided yesterday to head over to Holiday Park. It is an amusement park here in Germany and not far from us at all so why not check it our right?!!  So we did!
A 30 minute drive and here we are...

Now what is a European amusement park without a gigantic wine barrel?!!  Loove it!!

The medieval castle ride...it was fun and who doesn't love a castle?!!

Really is it not gorgeous?!

We were so excited to see the Schutzenhaus sine we have one here in Heidelberg and love their food and we were starving by then. We go into it only to discover it is a game zone no food in sight...ughhhhhh!!  Had some fun playing games but still starving so we move on...

Finally we found some food..Yayyyyy!!!  Now that thing right there that looks like a glob of chocolate ladies..IS!!!  Oh yes it was a chocolate chip muffin with a gigantic glob of melted choc chips on top....can you say YUMMMMMMMM??!!!!!  The food was fabulous as always and then we headed back out to ride more rides.  As soon as we stepped out of the restaurant we noticed they had started a parade. What is an amusement park without a parade...FABULOUS!
So we watched the parade and then finished riding all the rides we wanted and then of course it was shopping time. We shopped in the shops and the girls got a little makeover at the face painting hut...
Are you jealous??  Shoot I was!!!  They turned out so nice and the girls loved them.

So feet tired and stomachs full we decided to call it a day..the park was closing so we kind of had to. LOL  We headed back home and all crashed. It was a fabulous day and we will definitely be heading back there sometime.

Depending on how the weather treats us today and tomorrow we might head back out to another amusement park but we will have to see how much rain is headed our way first.  Have a great weekend everyone and I hope you all will venture out and find new things in your area as well!!

5 Question Friday!!

It's that time again for 5QF with Mama M so you all head on over to her page and get in on all the fun!

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet?
This is a tough one for sure...I am a total people person and I hate to do things alone ever. I have always wanted to just venture out on my own and discover new things around town but am terrified to do it on my own. Maybe it's the language difference or maybe it's just my shyness rearing its ugly head but either way I just can't do it by myself.

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on?
I would more then likely spend it on him. Anytime either of us gets money for holidays or birthdays we always end up spending it on each other.

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child?
I absolutely loved the monkey bars. I would play on them for hours and I was always the last one coming in from recess because I was hanging on the bars and didn't want to get off.

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast?
Well breakfast just happens to be my favorite meal of the day..that is if someone makes it for me. I am soooo not a morning person and so if no one cooks me breakfast that I do not eat it.  I would have to say my favorite breakfast is a toss up between french toast with scrambled eggs w/ cheese and biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy?
Hmmmm well I can't stand when things are messy or not organized but I don't know that I would categorize myself as a neat freak just quite.  I like to keep everything clean and in order but at the same time I don't stress over it.
Ok so there you have it!  Did you learn anything new about me?  Did any of my answers surprise you?  Yeah I am pretty boring for the most part but I am so dang fabulous at it!!

Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to be thankful this weekend for the sacrifices that so many have given to all of us so that we may enjoy the freedoms that we have.

I give a salute to all the fallen soldiers all over the world and wish all the soldiers currently in harms way a blessed weekend and a safe trip home soon!

TDML Thursday!

Ok so I was a slacker yesterday and just didn't have time to blog. I wanted to say welcome to my newest followers and Thank you so much to everyone for the great comments!!  Yesterday we had a field trip to the zoo with DD2's Kindergarten class and it rained on us it was not fun at all.  The kids wanted to see the animals so bad and we were trying to keep them as dry as we possibly could but do you have any idea how hard it is to wrangle up 5 Kindergartners when they all want to go different directions?!!  OMG it was tough!  I know there are some people on here that have a ton of kids and do just fine with them but I am not one of them. My girls are 7 years apart for a reason people!! LOL  I will definitely show you some pics one day but I haven't had time to download them yet.

So for TDML(Trip Down Memory Lane) Thursday I left off on our wedding day.  Well we had our wedding and it was gorgeous and memorable and fabulous. I could not have asked for anything more and I was so greatful to everyone who had a hand in it. We went to our hotel where we had reserved a suite with the honeymoon package and let me tell you how disappointed we were. The champagne we were supposed to have was cheap sparkling wine and the gourmet chocolates were Russell Stovers $10 box..I was not happy at all!!  The room was beautiful and after I got over the stuff that I wasn't happy with we really didn't seem to mind all of that. Now seriously I am not going to tell you all about our wedding night...don't act all shocked!!!

The next morning...err afternoon..we went back to my mom's house and opened presents and started packing up everything to move first thing Monday morning. You see Mr. M came home on Thursday, we got our marriage liscense and had our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday, got married on Saturday and he had to be back in Kansas by Tuesday. Gotta love the Army now don't ya?!!!  So we married and packed and moved in 3 days..woohooo for us!!  We had already put down a deposit on our apartment in Kansas and went straight there..speeding the whole way because we were running late as usual(I got a ticket for doing 81 in a 50..hehe  whooole other story).  We got to our apartment and got all our stuff unloaded and crashed.  The next day we started setting everything up and had to go out and buy a microwave and a few other things we didn't have.  We were married now and we knew we had about a month and a half to get settled and ready for Mr. M to deploy in early January. We knew this before we got married it was one reason we pushed our wedding up but I was so not prepared for this and I had no idea just how not prepared I was until that day came.

Now to say I cried would have been a joke..I balled my behind off ya'll!!!  I was a total wreck and it seriously took me a week to drag my butt out of bed after he left.  I did it though and I went out and got a job and figured my way around town and even ended up meeting some really nice people.  I would go home sometimes for a week or so just to be with family and friends but for the most part I stayed in Kansas and tried to make a home for us. It was hard and it was like nothing I had ever done in my life but I did it and now when I look back I actually am proud at all I did by myself.  Don't ever judge a newly married Army wife whose husband is deployed and who has never had to run a household in her life!!  I had a few bumps in the road like someone leaving nasty pictures on my car which I had to report to the unit just because well..I was scared ya'll..and then they made me go to the police who beefed up a patrol on my road and actually made me feel more safe.  There were times when I got lost around town..this was way before gps..and had to drive for hours to try and find my way back to somewhere I knew but I had done it and I made it through that 6 month deployment and came out of it with a new respect for Army wives everywhere.

We were stationed in Kansas for 3 1/2 years and I loved it there by the time we left.  We had moved out of that apartment mainly because Mr. M didn't like what had happened while he was gone and wanted me somewhere more safe. So we had moved to another house near friends and then eventually on post where we lived in two different houses because they were going to tear down the one we origionally moved into.  I loved living on post and felt safe and happy so much so that we then decided to try and have a baby. We were married two years by then and after 4 moves we finally got settled into a nice new house and ended up  pregnant 8 months after we started trying.  I was so happy and Mr. M was so excited and then we got the news that he would be deploying again..ughhhhh..of course it would come after I get pregnant with our first child and of course he would be gone for the entire pregnancy and come home after I had the baby.  Once again... ya gotta love the Army!!!

I will tell you all about my pregnancy and great friends that I made on that deployment and moving a friend in with me only to have to have her removed from my house and then having my baby all alone next week.

Thanks for sticking with me all of you and I really do hope you have a blessed rest of the week. Don't forget to come back tomorrow for 5QF with  Mama M!!

You might be a redneck if.......

Wow what can I say this Monday morning about my weekend..ummm  just grab a cup and sit tight because it is going to make you laugh, gasp and possibly fall out of your chair(please don't spill hot coffee on you)!

Ok so we had a filled weekend planned and I was determined to get it all done!  I love to have filled days that is as long as it all goes my way and everything actually gets accomplished!  So we started Saturday morning at the case lot sale. I love case lot sales and I always spend atleast a week doing my research and getting organized to maximize my savings at them. I spent a few hours in the commisary researching the regular prices for everything that was in the sale that I was interested in and I spent another 5 or 6 hours sorting out all my coupons and getting my list and coupons organized and easy to get to.  Now all of this may sound crazy to some of you but trust me with my family coupons save us a butt load on groceries and making sure we get the best deals we can when sales come around also makes my life much easier.
So Saturday morning we get up and head out to the commisary and when we get there I am ready. We grab 2 carts and start going through the items one by one. I got almost everything on my list and the things I didn't get was due to the sale price being hogwash and not really a good deal, but I did get a few other things that were great deals that were not listed on the sale flyer so score for us!!  After about an hour and a half in the commisary we walked out with $289 being spent...$45 savings with coupons...and an overall savings with sale prices and coupons of $230!!  Now doesn't that just make you want to cry?!!  Waaahoooooo all my work paid off big time!!  I will not need to buy cereal for a while...crossing my fingers these kids don't get bigger appetites between now and August!  LOL
So after the caselot sale and I am on a total rush with all my savings and the thought of carrying all the stuff up 3 flights of stairs..Ughhhhh!!!!!   We saw the fest they had going on and decided to check it out!  It wasn't a huge one and the girls..besides watching all the dogs that were there...were bored super fast.  So we came back home and unloaded the food....3 trips up the stairs with 4 of us..well technically 3 of us because DD2 carried bread!  We took a little breather and grabbed a snack and then were off again to a birthday party.
The party was fun and DD2 was all nice and sweaty from being in the bouncer and running around looking for buried treasure...seriously I was jealous I couldn't do that!  They had planned a water balloon fight..well that sounded fun to me but how they planned it was they picked some guys to be the targets and let the kids throw water balloons at them...NOT fun for us!!  As we watched the kids throw the balloons and the men getting soaked all of a sudden it went from all laughs to all gasps.  Now for any men out there you will totally get this and for all you women just go ahead right now and kiss your man for the thought of this ever happening to him.  Ohhhh yeah ladies  one poor guy took a water balloon smack in the manhood!!!  See man standing..see man get hit between the legs..see man fall over sideways and stay in the fetal position for the remainder of the fight!!  Ouuuuuchhhhhhhhhh for him and the kids thought he was joking so they continued to throw balloons at him....kids have no idea!!!  So as all the men are gasping and the kids are laughing well all the women just stared and waited to see if he was going to stand up...EVER!!  Yes it was the highlight of the party...really!!

So we leave the party a little later then planned..we had to really make sure he was ok and Mr. M was dodging balloons and we had to wait on him to come back around to where we were.  The girls were laughing at how all the guys were chasing their dad around the building trying to get him with water balloons..it was funny but made us late!!!  I am so not one of those people who likes to be late at all!!!!!  So by the time we all get in the truck and are supposed to be heading home to change out of our comfy clothes and into our dressy casual attire for the theatre we realize the time and we are LATE!!!  Ughhhh so Mr. M who is driving makes the decision to go ahead onto the play and surely it will be no big deal..right?!!!  OMG WRONG!!   We get to the place and find a parking spot with about 5 minutes to spare before curtain call and....now you all are going to have to picture this one and I reccomend putting your coffee cup down so you don't get hurt...we walk into the building and here we are dressed in shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes being stared at by people in summer dresses with shawls or suits for the men!!! Yupp we were the rednecks that showed up at the fancy theatre with our comfy garb on and were stared at like we had 3 heads!!  Can you say mortified?!!!!!
We stood there for about a minute...looked around to make sure no one we knew saw us and ducked out the door again.  I think Mr. M said something like "so I will go run and get the car and you all meet me there" as he dashed out the door.  Now don't get me wrong Mr. M could  have cared less and would have sat down and enjoyed the show and not given a first thought about anyone staring at him...I admire that about him...but he knew full well that not only was I embarassed but pretty much kicking myself in the behind all the way out the door.  Yes ladies I missed the show that I was so dying to get my family to and after all the mess of buying the tickets, making the plans and even buying DD1 and DD2 new sundresses to wear to it ended up not seeing it at all.  I have never in my life felt like that before and I pray I never will again but I soooooo learned my lesson. First of all if we are running late then we go change clothes and just show up late. Second if you walk into a room and you look like the clowns for intermission very slowly walk out and don't look back!

After that Mr. M decided to take us to dinner to cheer me up..he really is a man among men...and so we had a nice dinner and then went home and cracked open a bottle of wine and laughed about the whole day.
It really was funny once I calmed down and stopped feeling like an idiot..baahaahaaaaa!!!

So for all you ladies out there whom have ever had a situation like that just know you are not alone and I am right there with you in the shame closet!  Now you may pick up your coffee again...of course after you are done rolling on the floor that is!!

I will be trying to find a new camera this week so I will let you all know when I finally get one. Ohh and the Iphone was looked at, put down and left in the store.  The contracts make no sense over here and I was not about to mess with any of that!!

Have a fabulous day everyone and don't forget to embrace your inner redneck and be proud of it!!!  (yes I am still working on that one..don't judge me!!)

5 Question Friday!!

It's that time again so click that button ^ and let's get started!!

1. Do you have an iPhone and, if so, how do you get apps and what are your favorites?
I do not have an Iphone and I have been trying to figure out what phone I want since I can't stand the one I have anymore.  Everyone I ask says to get the Iphone so ok people tell me what is so dang special about the Iphone?!! Really..I mean is it just because it's the newest thing like when the blackberry came out(haven't had one of those yet either) or is it truly the best phone to choose?!
I am dying to see what everyone has to say about the Iphone and what makes it so spectacular!!

2. What is your fondest memory of K-3rd grade?
Well since I was a military brat and went to 3 different schools for those grades that will be  a tough one. I went to Kindergarten in Colorado and I loved that we lived on a hill and I could fly down it on my bike or a sled in the snow.
I went to 1st grade in Oklahoma(Midwest city) and actually I hated that school and honestly I am not sure why but I just remember being miserable the whole time we were there. Maybe that is why we moved and went to another school next..hmmmm.
Last I went to 2nd and 3rd grade at a private school in Oklahoma City. I absolutely loved the school and my teachers and all my friends.  I even had my first crush there..his name was Jason and I thought he was a God!!  I guess I would have to say my fondest memories of those grades would be at this school with all these people.

3. What makes you cringe at the thought of touching?
Ummmm I would have to say......wait for it....you are not going to believe this but even though I am a mom of 2 and have had many pets including 2 cats at the moment and they all do it.....vomit!!!  Seriously friends let me tell you that when either a kid or an animal throws up my entire family knows they better get to it before I do or else they will have an even bigger mess to clean up.  I will never forget when I was pregnant with my first baby and Mr. M was deployed and I had a gorgeous Rottie at the time. Well the rottie threw up in the living room and I am so not kidding when I say this...go ahead and laugh it is hilarious...I could not stand to clean it up and every time I went to look at it I would gag and end up throwing up myself so I took a tupperware bowl and covered it up and called my bestie and told her I needed help!  Yupp  now THAT is a true friend right there for you!!  In case you are wondering yes we are still friends to this day. I did not totally gross her out and she and her hubby are the guardians to our girls!

4. If you could have any celebrity show up on your doorstep who would it be and why?
Ok well of all the celebrities I would want to show up at my door...I would have to say Carrie Underwood. My girls absolutely adore her and since she is from Oklahoma they feel a kind of pride about her. I would love to see my girls faces if she showed up at our door and would sing a song with my girls. Corny..yes but seriously I would be sooo happy!!!

5. What would you say is your best physical feature?
Oh wow..what a question..ummm well I used to be proud of a lot of things that I no longer have like a flat stomach, pretty face, nice tatas..yupp I said tatas..LOL!  For all I have done in my life I am sad to say I no longer have any of them!!  Although I am back in the gym working my butt off to try and get a decent figure back I honestly do not have a best feature right now. Give me another year of working out and then maybe I will be able to tell you something...sad I know!
Ok so now all of you head on over to Mama M's and get in on all the Friday fun with the rest of us!!  You know you want to and you know you are dying to get your own answers out there so stop thinking so hard and just do it!!

TDML Thursday!

Ok so I missed you all yesterday but I took a much needed "me day" and it was fabulous!!  I didn't do any errands or chores for anyone else and didn't worry about whose room was clean or how much laundry needed to be done I just did whatever I wanted and it gave me some much needed rest.  I totally reccomend me days to everyone out there!!

So today I am going to continue with my Trip Down Memory Lane posts. I am sure most of you who have read the others have figured out by now that I was brought up in the city life and love everything city and bright and convenient and Mr. M was brought up in the country life and embodied everything that was country.  Now I learned to accept some of his little country quirks over the years but for the most part I totally reformed the man!!  No really  I did!!!  He is in love with city life now and couldn't even imagine living in the country anymore...score 1 for city life!! Waahooooo!!!

Ok so last I left off we had just gotten engaged...sweet story right?!! Yupp I know I write so crazy sometimes it is hard to tell what is real or not but stick with me and it all works out in the end..eerrrr I hope!!
So Mr. M and I went and told my mom who was thrilled and a tiny itty bit terrified when I told her we didn't care about a wedding and were going to the court house so we could just be together...yes that's right we were young and in love and could have cared less about the big wedding production but my mom knew better...thank goodness for her!!  She told me to promise her we would do a big wedding and in return she would do everything for it and all we had to do was wait...ok fine we agreed.  Now I was so ready to be married to this man and was all ready to leave my life and spend the rest of it with him that I called up my job(where I was making 3 times what this poor military man was making) and told them I was getting married and I quit!! Man let me tell you how much fun that was..well of course until my mom called me to ask why in the heck I did that.  See my older brother worked at the same place as me...in love and totally not thinking people..for real!!!  So after I explained to her that I had to quit because I was going to be traveling back and forth from Oklahoma to Kansas she reluctantly gave me that one. I mean I had to find us a place to live and all that good stuff and if we were not doing the court house wedding then I was going to go see him as much as I possibly could and I did.  We probably paid as much for gas going back and forth as we paid for the flowers for our wedding..haha!!  If we only had known then what we know now right?!!!
So here we are planning our wedding and ohhh....btw did I forget to mention that we had met, started dating and got engaged and I had never once even met his family?!!  Oh yeah you can smile big on that one..mistake number one...his mom hated me for that!   So while planning our wedding I had to take time out one day to go have coffee with his mom.  She seemed really nice and she was very nice to my mom was I wasn't too nervous after a while..that is until his sister called and the call went something like this..
his mom "yes she is here right now we are having coffee"
"yes she is pretty and and looks pretty physically fit"
"yes she seems really nice also"

Ummmmmm am I in a dog show or what?!!  For real are you all kidding me?!!!!!  I was appauled that they had had that conversation in front of me and my MOM...for real country people?!!!  Ughhhhhh!!  Let me just say that the next phone call to Mr. M was a pissed off one where he should have gathered and his mom and I were not going to see eye to eye on almost everything!!  Poor man..or poor me either way it was horrible.  Now did I tell you about when Mr. M came down to shopping with me and pick out our wedding bands?  Oh yeah we went and he bought mine and I bought his and then we went to go show his mom...because he wanted to..and she looked at the ring I bought him and said "oh well that's a really cute ring, huh"  Again is it wrong to slap a woman who gave life to the man of your dreams?!!  Ohh don't worry I never laid a hand on the woman really..not that I didn't have my moments but I didn't and don't think I ever could.

Ok so back to wedding stuff...we left most of the planning to my mom and his parents set up the rehearsal dinner so I had a lot of time to dress shop.  I shopped my arse off let me tell you and did not find what I was looknig for until one day...there it was..I had found the dress.  Not just a pretty dress but THE dress!!!  I was in love and the first thing I did was call my mom and tell her to get her behind to the store and buy it for me. The nice girl behind the counter said they were not allowed to hold dresses of course because they were on sale..ahhhhhhhhh!!!   This girl made us wait there until my mom could come over and buy my dress!! Rude yes!!!!  I later found out that this girl was a best friend of Mr. M's sister..coincidence?...who knows but still rude!!!   So I now had my perfect dress, the flowers I picked out were fabulous and all the music I wanted was set. The rest was my mom's doing and I could have cared less..she did a fabulous job though!!
The only problem with our wedding was..I was running late because I couldn't decide how I wanted my hair done..Mr. M lost my ring for a very brief second he says(an hour my lil bro said) and after the ceremony as we were leaving we were pelted with potpourri...oh yeah that stuff hurts just in case you ever wanted to know!!  Apparently all the little packs of bird seed we had put together had been left at my mom's house and so someone improvised with potpourri..all I have to say is I found that stuff all in my hair that night it was actually kind of funny.

Ok so again scanner not working so these are pics of pics so please excuse the quality..one day I really will get a new scanner..when I have time..someday..don't hold your breathe really...

the dress..

the man of my dreams..

The wedding was beautiful and our marriage to this day is the most precious thing in my life. I always wonder what would have happened if he hadn't married me and I have no idea where I would be now.  All I do know is that I can not even imagine a day in my life without this man and I am so greatful for everyday that we have together.

Ok so hopefully I didn't bore you all or get too mush with this one and next week I will continue on with learning to be a married woman and all the fun that entails!!

Where to begin....

Wow it's Monday already..dang it!!!  This weekend was one of the rare ones where we actually have some free time to just be with each other. I really really love when we can just sit around as a family and enjoy each other's company.  Of course the girls were constantly saying things like "can we go somewhere?" or "are we going to do anything?" to which Mr. M and myself would say "it's raining outside and we are just enjoying being non busy".  Of course we all know how much kids love it when parents say stuff like that to them so we got a lot of huffs and puffs and grunts and moans all day long.  The girls might not have had a good day but we really enjoyed the calm and somewhat quiet we had. Yay for calm weekends!!

So I am still on the camera hunt and have had several people recommend their cameras to me and I am very greatful to everyone for any advice on buying a new camera.  I have narrowed it down to 2 that I really like and figure by the time I make up my mind I will have the money set aside to buy it....perfect!!

Mr. M and I have our little quirks that no matter what each other has said we just can't change so we have learned over the years to just deal with them. Mr. M and I have totally different ways of cleaning but I have to say he is coming around to my side and I am loving it!!  He is more of a get everything done as fast as you can and I am a take all day but deep clean kind of person. Well yesterday he decided he was going to try to do things my way and I can not even say how dang happy that made me!!  He usually cleans on Sundays for me just to give me help for the week coming and I adore him for even doing that but actually doing it my way yesterday has not only taken half of my work load for the week but made it so simple for me this week that I might actually have time to go to Mannheim like I have been wanting to and look for a gift for my bestie!! Yayyyyyy for Mr. M!!!!  Isn't he fabulous?!!!   Ok I know you are probably saying "oh shut up already and I don't care what your hubby does"  and that's ok because it took me a lot of years to get him trained ladies so keep it up!! LOL

Other then that I have a busy week planned and a ton of stuff to get done.  I hope that all of you have a fabulous week and don't forget to take time for yourselves even if that means sneaking into the bedroom locking the door and just screaming into a pillow...yes it has happened and will many many more times I am sure!! Haha!!!

Ciao for now!!

5 Question Friday!!

It's that time again and you all know you love the questions and can't wait each week for my oh so truthful and sometimes insane answers!!  So head on over to Mama M's
and get in on all the fun!

1. Take your pick...date night, girls night out, or night out alone?
Ok so right now I am dying for a good girls night out!  I haven't had one in a few months and could seriously use some girl talk and chilax time!  I love spending time with Mr. M but we always make a big effort to get our alone time and make the most of it.

2. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
Ummmm no but my 6yr old can and it is so funny to watch her do it!  She thinks it is the greatest thing since sliced bread when she does it. I don't know what I laugh at more...her doing it or the adorable laugh she makes afterwards!

3. What is your favorite flower and why?
My absolute favorite flowers are the snowballs. I think that fact that these flowers grow into a ball is so pretty and crazy!  I could sit and watch them for hours...yes I have issues leave me alone!!

4. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
Ohhhh ok  I have had this thought so many times and there are so many different things I would want to tell myself. First of all I would tell me to not buy those dag..gum enclyclopedias that we thought was such a good deal!  Total rip off!  I also would tell me that buying that house was a dumb dumb move and finally I would tell me to spend more time with my kids while they were little...I miss the baby stage and had way too many missed moments I wish I could take back!

5. If you won the lottery, what is the very first thing you would do?
Well the first thing I would do was tell Mr. M!! Does that count?!  I mean would he know at the same time I would?!

TDML Thursday!

For those of you who missed a few weeks ago I started TDML Thursday to share the story of Mr. M and myself and our lives as they began. TDML=Trip Down Memory Lane..in case you were wondering! LOL

So I left off where Mr. M and I had our first date and it went a lot better then I had expected.  I really was starting to like this guy and his funny, country ways that came along with him.  Over the next few weeks he would call me and ask me out every day. I soon found out that he was only in Oklahoma on leave and would be heading off to Kansas where he was to be stationed. I wasn't sure where we were going but I was so intrigued by this man that the thought of him leaving me was beginning to really bother me...ohh and that scared the heck out of me!!  I was in a point in my life where I dated whomever and wasn't really looking for a serious relationship but I could not shake the feelings I had whenever I was around him.  It was a feeling I had never had before and as much as I liked it I was also terrified by it!  So we went out for a week and then the day came for him for leave and we said our goodbyes and that we could keep in touch.
The first time I heard from him again was a phone call where of course I reminded him that my birthday was coming up and it was a HUGE deal since I was turning 21!!!  Aaaaahh the memories of that night.....whoops ok back on track.  So a few days later I get a birthday card in the mail and a very sweet letter as well.
As much as I was trying to deny my feelings simply because it was all new to me I knew that I had fallen hard for this guy and if he so much as went a day without calling me I was totally freaking out!! Oh yes my friends I was smitten and along with that came the insecurities about him being in another state and the lonely nights without him and I hated it!

We talked a lot and he came down to see me several times over the next few weeks...how sweet was that right?!!  We all know how hard it is to get away with the military but he managed it even on one day off!!!  Yupp that's right I had taken his heart as well and he was going so far out of his way to be with me our fate was sealed before either of us even realized it.  One day we were talking on the phone and he said "I need to come down this weekend and see you because I have something I want to ask you"  OMG  did he really just say that??!! My heart was pounding out of my chest and I could not believe my ears!!!  Trust me you could not have wiped the smile off my face by now!  So  he comes down to Oklahoma and we spend a nice weekend  together and at lunch he asks me "So do you think that you could handle being married to someone who was in the military? I will travel a lot and probably be gone for long periods of time and I just want to know if you even think you could deal with that."  *shocked and so flipping happy*  I said "My father was military and I am used to moving around a lot and being around military and yes I am pretty sure I could handle it..why?"  Ok come on now of course I was waiting for the actual question to be asked. I mean that wasn't a proposal was it?!!
So we spent the rest of the day at the state fair..I loved the fairs every year and most of all the ferris wheel.  So we had fun and then headed back to his hotel room...oh did I forget to tell you that he wanted to spend all of his time with me so he had rented a hotel room to stay in because he didn't want his family knowing he was in town.  Ok so that probably should have tipped me off to a controlling family on his side but love is blind right?!! LOL
So sitting at the hotel and talking about what to do for dinner I was a little disappointed that he had not popped the question already..I mean what the heck was he waiting for. We went to the fair and we rode the ferris wheel and how romantic would it have been to be proposed to on a ferris wheel for pity sakes!!!!  So yes I was a little sad and he could tell and so as we are sitting there he says to me" I know why you are sad and I am sorry but I just lost my courage at the fair"  I just stared at him and said "for what?"  He said "well I know what you want me to say so will you marry me?" *jaw dropped and eyes changed to evil* I said "are you kidding me?  NO"  Now of all the stupid, insensitive ways to propose to someone that is what I got?!!  Ummm I don't think so buddy!!  I was pissed!!!!!!!!   We talked a little bit longer and of course he was crushed..well sorry but he should have been that was horrible and insensitive of him to say that.  So we decide to go shopping..nothing else cheers me up better then a shopping trip and I had totally decided he was buying me something after that crap.  So we head to the mall and of course the first thing he starts doing is looking in jewelry stores asking me what I liked. Ok I can play this game buddy so I show him beautiful rings that I love and I knew he couldn't afford...yes I was being mean and yes I realized later it was really mean of me but at the time it was funny!!  Don't judge me I was young!!!  and stupid!!!  I totally admit that now!!
So he takes me home and we agree to meet up the next day for breakfast since I had to be at work later in the afternoon and he was leaving to head back to Kansas.

The next morning he picks me up and we have a good breakfast and he asks me if I wouldn't mind going back to his hotel so he could go ahead and pack his things and spend a little more time with me so I agree.
He is packing and I am sitting on the sofa talking to him when suddenly he gets quiet. I look over and he is on one knee holding a ring..not just any ring but the one I swore he could not afford!! OMG he really does love me!  He says" Now I love you and I want to marry you so will you marry me please?"  Seriously, I might have taken a micro second and then jumped him and said "yes yes yes"!!

So that is my proposal story..quant isn't it?!!  It may not be fancy or over the top romantic but I can not tell that story enough in my lifetime. I love our story and how we came to be and it just gets better and better and of course I will share all of the story with you. One day a week here on my blog!
So be sure to come back here next Thursday for another thrilling story of our lives and how we got to where we are now!!

Ciao for now!

To ramble or not to ramble....

Ok so normally Wednesdays are my total ramble days but today I was thinking about maybe doing something different....NOT!!  Are you kidding me I looooooooooooooove to ramble!!! Baahaahaaa You didn't really believe I wouldn't ramble did you?!!!  Gullible much?!!!  Oh ok maybe that's not so nice...you silly readers you!!  Is that better?!!

Ok so this week so far has been eventful as my weekdays usually are and a little crazy.  So why is it that when we have everything settled and our lives seem to be going just right we always seem to shake them up a bit?!! For real people I have a wicked way of making my life go from easy to OMG overnight!!  It's insane!!
So the girls have been in their activities just long enough for me to get into a serious routine....stop laughing yes it takes me a while to get in sync with things sometimes!!  So all has been great..busy but great..and so what do I do well of course I shake it up.  Now not only am I saying I add a little chaos of my own doing but really I made a daggum martini folks..totally shaked and maybe a little stirred as well!!  I decided I needed to mess with our bank...OHHHHHH yeah I did say the bank!!!  Of all the banks we have had in all of our lives with moving around and being in different countries I have never been totally satisfied with my banking EVER!!  So we finally found a really good one..well credit union and apparently it is very important to say that..they really don't like you to call them a bank so Credit Union it is!!  Anywho..so I decided to change our direct deposit and guess what...ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah I flubbed it all up!!  Now I did get the accounts done right and got everything switched but did I do it the way the credit union wanted it?!! NOPE!!!!

So let's just say the past few days of talking online, on the phone and in person with employees of the credit union  I am still not squared away.  Who would have ever thought that it would make such a big deal who is primary on an account...really?!!!!  Let me just warn all of you out there that is a VERY important thing right now!!  Let me save you the days upon days of headache it is taking just to try and fix it now.  Not only do I now have to open new accounts with Mr. M as primary but I have to redo direct deposit and all automatic bills and redo checks!  I swear by the time I get this all done they are going to know me very well at this bank  Credit Union!!  I think after this is all said and done I might just march in there one day and tell them how much "I like this bank!!"  Hahahahahaha  ok maybe just I thought that would be funny!!  I mean I don't want to make them mad they are going to have all my money after all!  LOL

So hopefully by the end of this week I will have it all done and will be able to take a day or so to enjoy the non chaos again of course until I screw it up decide to start something else difficult.

Don't forget tomorrow I am going to get back into my trip down memory lane Thursday!! If you missed the first one about how Mr. M and I met you must go back and read it..it's fabulous of course!!!

Looking for....

I am in need of a new camera since our has apparently decided it's day has come and gone. Of course it decided this while we were on vacay to Paris...fabulous right?!!!  Sooo anywho I am really wanting to get a good camera that hopefully I will not have to replace again in just a few shorts years.  I keep seeing all these different types of cameras and to be honest with you I am totally lost.

I have seen quite a few cameras that sound fantastic but I would love to actually have some opinions from others who have and love their own digital cameras.  Please you all..and I know you all have them because I see your fabulous pics all the time..can you give me any advice or reccomendations at all?!!

These are a few I am really interested in...oh and btw  what is the difference between the DSLR and a non DSLR camera??!

Ok so these 2 are the ones I am really interested in. The Nikon I have actually seen in person and the pics seemed to be good but it also took a lot of blurry movement pics..Is this normal?!!  I know of course a lot of bad pics are user error..oh yes I am gigantic error trust me!!  I do not know much about cameras just that I want them to take really great pics and I don't want to have to do too much or else I will lose interest in the camera really fast!!

Ok so there it is folks. Please help me find a new camera before we head out again on some more travels and end up AGAIN with no pics to show for it!!

Seriously Desperate!!!

Happy Mother's Day! Last day of Mania with Mama M

Photobucket

Let me first say " Happy Mother's Day" to all of the moms out there in bloggerville!!
Today is the last day of the mania with Mama M  and I am excited to be writing a letter to my first born!

Dear DD1-
What is there for me to say to you other then my heart swells every time I even think of you, your birth, your existence in my little life!  From the day you were born I was so scared and unsure I even knew what I was doing but you stuck with me and taught me how to love someone so unconditionally and still be able to know who I am at the same time. We have had our times..kiwi shoe polish all over the new recliner and beige carpet...winning essay contests and being recognized for your strengths.  Of all the times I remember from being your mom there are a few that really stick out in my mind.  The first would be when you were about 6 years old and you asked me "Mommy when I grow up will I be fat like you or skinny like your best friend?"  to say that cut me like a knife would be an understatement but I have to say as we all know kids say the darndest things and also they don't mean it like we take it usually. That moment did wake me up and force me to realize that I had let myself go and seriously needed to get into a gym so I do thank you for that even though you probably thought I was just angry about that. Secondly the time you said to me "Mom when I grow up and have a family I will never let my kids act the way I act sometimes to you and dad"  really?!!!  Shocked does not even describe how I felt at that moment.  I told her "I would never change a single thing about you or the way you act and if you do act out it is just being a kid and learning your way through life so don't be so hard on yourself"  Now with all of that said I have to say I adore you and I love your sense of finding yourself and your sense of humor and your willingness to learn and enjoy life as it is and as it comes your way.  You will forever be my first born, my first true taste of motherhood and I will cherish every moment be it good or bad that we have ever had together and will ever have together in our lives.
I am absolutely and undeniably the most proud woman alive to have you as my daughter and most importantly my first born!  You helped me find my way in life and decide what exactly it was I wanted to do with my life. Years of college and a few degrees later and nothing will ever make me feel as proud as I am of being your mother. Thank you for all you have done for me and my life and for allowing me to be a part of your ever changing life and accomplishments.  To you, my dearest daughter, I say thank you, I love you and I will never stop being amazed with you every single day of my life!

Mother's Day mania..Day 4

Photobucket

Today's theme for Mother's Day Mania with Mama M is "What do you enjoy most about being a mom?"

Well I remember way back when I had decided I wanted to have a baby. Mr. M and I had been married for a few years and he was deployed for half of our first year of marriage. I got it into my head that I needed a baby so even when he went away I would have someone with me..sounds crazy and immature I know but that was my reasoning back then.  By the time I had my first daughter I was confused and young and scared. It seriously took me a few years before I thought I was even a decent mother. I would get stressed out and angry a lot...yes back then no one really spoke about post pardum depression and I had no idea what was wrong with me.  By the time my oldest daughter was 2 I had finally settled into being a mom and I was so greatful for having made it through those first few years.  I now had this super busy and active toddler and I was enjoying every single minute of it. At the same time I was determined that this was it and we were having no more kids. It was a lot of work..hoy cow!!!  By the time our daughter was 5 I started getting the itch and decided I wanted more kids. I saw all kinds of people around me with their multiple kids and I was ready for another one. It took a while to get pregnant again and all that time I was so ready and wanting another baby. By the time I got pregnant with our second daughter I was so happy I could barely contain my excitement. Even though throughout the entire pregnancy I swore I was having a boy...man was I wrong!  I had a lot of health issues with the pregnancy and as soon as the doctor told me that they weren't sure if my body could handle another pregnancy I was crushed. At that point I didn't know if I wanted any more kids but having someone tell you you can't have any more kids just breaks your heart! I was so devastated!!  Mr. M would always say "but I thought we were done after this one" and all I would say was "well I thought I was done after the first but look at me now"  it really was hard to handle for me.
By the time our second was born I was blissfully happy and couldn't even imagine my life without my precious little girls.  I am sure every mother feels this way about their kids but I seriously think that my girls saved my life.  I had no idea what I would do with my life but being a mom just made me feel whole.  Once I had DD2 and had found my happy place in life I then decided to go back to school and finish the degree I had to quit when I got married.  Long story about moving to another state and them not accepting half my credits and me being young and dumb I gave up..yupp I was stupid!!  So I did it!! I finished my degree and couldn't be more happy with myself and my life.
So not only do I love being a mom but I truly believe that becoming a mom gave my life the purpose I was longing for. Since I had my girls I have wanted to improve my life because of them.  I want to be someone they look up to and are proud of. Someone that someday they will come to and say "mom we are proud of you and are greatful for everything you have done for us"...yeah a girl can hope right?!! LOL
So pretty much the best thing I love about being a mom is just that "being a mom"! Being a role model for my girls and giving them someone to look up to and something to strive to be like when they grow up. If I can accomplish anything in my life it would be to make my girls the best they can be and very strong women who will take the world by storm and make me so proud to say I am their mom!!

1. What is your worst memory of your siblings?
Ohh well ok let's get a little personal with this one now...both of my brothers attempted suicide and it was the worst thing I had ever gone through on both counts, but then my little brother died a few months ago and I would have to say that tops every single other moment right there!

2. What was YOUR naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something YOU did, no pawning it off on someone else!)
Ohhhh now to answer this I will have to admit I was a naughty child..baahaaahaaaa  come on now I was not naughty..well ok maybe a little naughty or alot!!  So I guess my naughtiest memory of childhood would have to be cheating on an exam in school...stop gasping!!!   Yes I know it was wrong but don't we all do crazy stuff as kids!  LOL

3. Where do you like to go to relax?
LMBO  relax?!! What is that?!!   I guess the place I can say I actually relax is in bed....you know when I am asleep I am relaxed!!

4. What was the last thing you won?
Ohhh well obviously I just got an award today but is that actually winning something?!! I dunno..so we will go with the bingo stuff I won last week.

5. If you could be on a game show, which would you choose?
Hmmmmmmm  that's a good one.....let me think.... I would have to say I would be on Deal or no Deal!  I would so get that million dollar suitcase I just know it!!  Haha!!

Mother's Day Mania..Day 2

Photobucket

Ok so today is Day 2 of the Mother's Day Mania with Mama M and today is all about birth stories!!
So click the button and join in on all the fun with us!  You know you have some fabulous mom stories you are just dying to put out there!!

Birth story for DD1.....
First I have to give you a little background so you get the full picture on this one. Mr. M was deployed to Bosnia from the time I was 3 months pregnant with DD1 so I relied heavily on some really dear friends for anything I needed during this pregnancy.  As much as I hate to ask for help I also know when it is time to suck it up and just ask!  Ok so  now you have..first pregnancy(full term anyway), hubby gone and at the time we had a Rottweiler(full blown gigantic teddy bear).  So I passed my due date and the doctor's kept telling me I was mentally holding her in and that if I didn't go into labor they were going to have to induce. I kept saying "oh no you are not my hubby will be home soon and then I will have this baby". Neither of us were right!! So here I am 2 weeks overdue and dr's all over me to come in and what do I do you say?!! Well I was young, and stupid and alone so I ignore the dr's calls and stay away from the hospital. All the time Mr. M is on a plane on his way home and I am bound and determined to wait for him. So my mom calls me and says "I don't know when you are going to have this baby(all the while not knowing what is really going on with me and the dr's) but I am coming up there(from Oklahoma to Kansas) to see you".  Ok great now I would have to deal with dr's and my mom...Ughhhh!!!
So mom comes up to see me and she decides that I am going to have this baby and tells me that she wants to go out and do some shopping..that was so unfair because she knows I can't resist shopping of any kind!!   So we head out of the house around 8am and seriously by 4pm we were still out and still shopping and I thought I was going to drop the baby right there in the mall!!  I was in pain but I couldn't tell my mom...seriously in my head at that moment I thought telling my mom would disappoint her that she would have to stop shopping....yes again I was young and dumb!!  So we finally get finished shopping and are heading home around 5:30pm. On the way home I finally tell my mom I have been having pain and a lot of pressure in my belly and she says"oh it's probably just because you have been busy all day walking"   Again remember my mom knows nothing about the dr's saying I needed to deliver soon or them saying I was mentally holding the baby inside.  She did however know that Mr. M was on a plane on his way home and that I was hoping to wait for him!
So we get back to the house and the pain is now so bad I am struggling to not let my mom know just how bad it is. I keep telling her I think this is it and she keeps telling me "No they will just send you back home"  So by the time my contractions that I have been secretly timing has gotten to about 2 minutes apart and I can not contain the pain any longer I say "we need to go to the hospital". My mom again says" ok but it is a waste of time and they are just going to send you home".
At the hospital they hook me up and say "yes you are contracting but you are far enough along so we will  have to send you home"  Oh yeah I got the look from my mom and I was pissed!!  So by now I have held this poor baby inside for over 2 weeks past her due date and I am not in pain..beginning contractions my ass those suckers friggin hurt!!!  So as the nurse comes back in to check my contractions..and to tell me to please stop screaming(really?!! I was in pain people!)she says "let's stand you up and I will help you get your pants back on"  I said "No I am  not going home I am in pain and I pushed as hard as I possibly could...ok in my mind as a first time mom and not knowing exactly how things went I was trying to push the baby out...well as soon as I pushed there was a woooooosh of fluid that came straight out of me!!!  I freaked out..again not knowing what the hell that was...and the nurse says to me"Oh my there is meconium we better get you in a bed". Now in my mind I am thinking...first-haha on you I told you I was not going home and second-what the heck is meconium?  So they get me to a bed and hook me up with an iv line going into my belly to wash off the baby and make sure she doesn't breathe any of that stuff in...again I am totally lost and a little freaked out!
After 6 hours of checking me they tell me I am finally ready to start pushing and as I have already been given an epidural....and told the drug doctor that I loved him....I was so ready to start pushing.  So I push and push and push and push for 1 hour. The doctor comes into the room and says "if you don't seriously start pushing I am just going to give you a c-section" I say to the doctor "I am pushing my ass off and if you try to cut me open I will sue you"  Yupp that's right folks I passed nice a looooooooooooooong time ago and she was being a *itch!  So after 2 1/2 hours of pushing she returns to my room and says "ok it's time to sign the papers to do the c-section" I say "I told you no and I am doing the best I can" The nurse then chimes in and says" she is pushing really good but I can feel the baby's head and it is stuck under her pelvic bone so that is why it's taking so long" The doctor rolls her eyes and storms off!  The nurse looks at me and says "you are fine just keep trying"  By this time I seriously want to die and I am cursing out Mr. M and the doctor and my mom and telling everyone to kiss my behind, but I keep pushing.  In the middle of trying to push again the dr comes in with an ultrasound machine to try and see what is going on. She does the US and says "this is about a 7 or 8 pound baby you need to push harder"  So 4 hours of pushing and the baby's head finally makes it under my pelvic bone and is crowning and they move me over to delivery.
The dr still being a *itch says"well it's about time" at the same time I am pushing and pushing and the other dr(intern) in the room says "umm I don't think this is a 7 pound baby"  As he asks if he should just go ahead and cut me the rest of the way....I am now freaked out..cut me?!! ....what the??!!!   The dr says "yes go ahead"  oh yeah friends  that would be a 4th degree tear..by the time I find out what that means I am already all torn up.  So DD1 finally decides to come out after 6 hours of pushing and ripping a hole in me....literally..and as my beautiful 10lb 1.2 oz 21 in baby girl comes into the world all I hear is "OMG I am so so so so sorry" from the dr!  As the lady who told me to stop screaming, that she was going to cut me open, to try harder and that I was not doing good enough saw my not so little baby girl she actually started to cry!  She came over to me and said" I am so sorry I had no idea and I can't believe the US didn't show how big she was"  By now I am exhausted and just want to be left alone except the fact that I was starving.  So baby all cleaned up and me in the recovery bed and Mr. M stuck in the Netherlands since his plane had broken down and mom beaming from ear to ear while watching the baby sleep I finally went to sleep...for an hour until the dr came in to check my stitches.  It was definitely eventful and I do not regret a thing about it. I had some really wonderful nurses and even though my dr was a *itch at times I even saw a different side of her when my little beauty was born!!

Oh and just in case you were wondering...Mr. M finally made it home when DD1 was 9 days old!

Mr. M seeing his first born for the first time. She was 9 days old and I was still sitting on a donut!  LOL

*excuse the picture quality my scanner isn't plugged in so I had to take pics of pics! LOL
